CAUTION: This experiment uses flame and can be painful or dangerous if care is not
taken. Please be careful.
1. Light the candle.
2. Let the candle burn for at least 20 to 30 seconds.
3. Light a match and then blow out the candle.
4. While the candle is still smoking put the match in the smoke about one inch away
from the wick.
5. You should see the candle light as the flame jumps from the match to the candle
wick. If you don’t, move the match a bit closer to the wick.
The materials in the smoke from the candle are flammable. When you get a match
near the smoke, the smoke will ignite and carry the flame back to the wick.
